Root Boy Slim Inducted Into Hall of Fame!
Root Boy Slim was inducted into the Washington Area Music Association Hall of Fame (The Wammies) on February 7th. There was a peformance by a Tribute Band consisting of Slim's bandmates through the years, including Ernie "Sex-Ray" Lancaster, the Original Rootettes and Jones Boy Horns! They got a five minute set, and I attended to see if they could take the title of World's Greatest Root Boy Slim Tribute Band away from us. I had never before looked forward to being dethroned with such anticipation!
I went. I boogied. I puked. (Think I'm making it up?) The sound of the original players was inspiring, besides the fact that they are some of the nicest people on the planet. Look for new Root Boy tunes and more gigs soon.
