Chicago Poet of the Month .
When Illinois State Poetry Society poet and Griever's Circuit author Tom Roby recently appeared (as Omniphonic) with his son Lem at the Cafe in Lincoln Square, IL Arts Council Fellowship recipient Robert Karimi said there should be an asterisk next to his listing because it was such a special night. And Robert was right. Tom's insightful and humorous poetry, blended with Lem's sound effects played from a guitar, was one of the best poetry features I've seen in a long time.

It will be a good chance to see Tom Roby in action. Tom has been writing and performing his poetry for many, many years in Chicago, starting out at the open mic. at Weeds and moving on to be one of the main features at all sorts of poetry venues. His work was adapted for the stage by Smoke and Mirror Productions and performed at the Loop Theater. He has been a featured poet at DvA Gallery as well as for the Chicago Poetry Fest.
There is good reason to celebrate National Poetry Month, because Tom Roby is is our poet of the month!
